I am looking to buy this ultra wide lens for my Canon T2i. Any thoughts?

Canon - EF-S 10-22mm f/3.5-4.5 USM Ultrawide Zoom Lens

I was thinking about buying the canon ultra wide & canon fisheye. Just because of the brand name and the results of the lens. I feel like I can trust canon more. maybe thats just me, I looked on BestBuy.com and they both have 4.9 stars out of 5.

Add another vote for the Tokina 11-16 2.8. I have it on loan from a friend and it's amazingly awesome. The build quality alone is a notch above most other AF lenses I've gotten to play with. I haven't gotten to play with the other lenses but the max aperture of 2.8 would help me out more in less than ideal lighting conditions and the 17-50 range is nicely covered with the Tamron 17-50 2.8. Unless low light isn't a problem, then yeah, the Canon and Tamron models should nicely suffice.

I had the Tamron, Sigma, Tokina and Canon on my 7D when trying to decide. While the price was nice, I immediately put the Tamron and Sigma back on the shelf. They just didn't cut it for me.

I liked the Canon's zoom range, but I found that pretty well immediately after 11mm it went up to 4.5 making it a very slow lens.

The Tokina was so solid feeling... nice quick, quiet focus (not that focus is a big issue with these ultra-wides) and so very fast. It was the clear cut winner for me. I have really enjoyed using it, for both video and photos.

Of course, getting your hands on one is the problem. I was just about to pull the trigger on getting one from Saneal Camera in Calgary (they've got a bunch of them), when I made a last minute check on B&H and saw they had some. I ordered it and soon they were out of stock again. Funny thing is, I had filled out a "Notify Me When It's In Stock" form on B&H, but I never did get a notification. It was a good thing I was checking periodically.

I am pretty hardcore about Canon's lenes but after reading on the forums a while back I went with the Tokina. Glad I did. Use it so much, sharp images and fast. Build is fantastic. Feel I made the right choice.

I had actually went to the photography store and tried out the Canon lens several times before making the decision.
