I amsterdam - travel video shot on 70D-Sigma 18-35-Flaat_10 ps

Shot this one on a vacation weekend in Amsterdam. Very beautiful city!
I used the 70D with a Sigma 18-35mm f1.8. This is the combo Im using 99% even at gigs. Crop mode of the 70D makes that awesome lens much more usable! Of course at 3X shots are much more shaky on a lens without stabilizer, but after using it for almost a year now I have found that even with a basic shoulder rig everything is ok...in that video though all shots are handheld.
I used Samuels Flaat_10 picture profile (thats what I use 99% generally) and graded with colorista II.
There is too much talking about how awful is the video from Canon DSLRs, comparing to the other brands...however I still like their image:-)
 
Just an update about the above video, that I d like to share with the DVXuser community!
inflightdublin ( Ireland based company providing inflight entertainment to numerous airlines) bought a two month (September-October) licence for that video and it will be played for that period of time on the screens of the Norwegian air shuttle!
I feel very happy about that...and just wanted to share it...:-)
 
great work! excellent tones and good job on your exposures. i also use and love that lens as well. its really a weapon @ 1.8. I'm surprised you aren't getting aliasing & moire. are you using a mosiacengineering filter?

Thank you very much David! I dont use any filter but I almost always shoot wide open, even at day light, so that might be reducing aliasing and moire a little, but still there is some in several shots. The funny thing is, on my way from the airport to the hotel I was observing the city and thinking to myself that its a total ''moire kingdom''...but finally it didnt come out as bad as I thought...:-)

going back over the video i can find some moire but its nowhere near what my initial shots from my 70D exhibited. I'm guessing maybe the 70D had its sharpening all the way down and the fact that this lens shooting shallower DOF helped. still this is pretty good for this particular DSLR. the mosaic engineering filter works wonders. also allows for a good amount of sharpening in PP.

Yes Im using Samuels Flaat_10 picture profile which has sharpening all the way down by default and I leave it that way. I do sharpen a bit in post though and from what I ve seen post sharpening creates better results with less aliasing.

I understand what you re saying about the moire, I too wish it wasnt there at all, but the fact is that we see things that normal viewers just can not see. I have delivered many many wedding videos shot with the moired Canon DSLRs and NEVER had any complain. However if I got hired to shoot that particular video from the start I would probably rent a C100 and be safe:-)
