I am SO lucky!!!

We just celebrated our 6 year anniversary last weekend.

Enjoy every second of it Brandon because the time goes way, way, way to fast. And when you hit a rough patch, take comfort in knowing that those are the times you'll barely remember, if at all.

ah yes, the honeymoon phase. so much passion, fun, and good feelings towards your spouse.

right now i'm in the phase i like to call, "is it too much to ask for you to stop playing farmville and put down the freakin' laptop for a few minutes so you can clean the damn living room?", phase.

Yup. You surely do!

My wife is my best friend. We have been through the fire together; death; bad finances, family struggles, children; legal issues; business; remodeling....

We've always had each others' backs. We don't always agree and sometimes we drive each other crazy, but the struggles have forged a tremendous respect, and our passion for each other grows. After 15 years of marriage we are more comfortable with each other than ever, but we also find each other more intriguing than ever. It hasn't gotten "old". It's gotten more fun.

We only got that way by dropping our guard and letting each other in. It's not always easy and it took a long time, but the rewards are incredible. I have absolute and complete trust in her and our marriage.

I wake up every day wondering who is getting the short end of the stick, because I seem to be getting more than my fair share of the good life.

Just a small example... we're in the midst of finding and buying a home... I decided I wanted to focus my energy and effort 100% on that... therefore I put a short film I was going to do on hold... She protested a lot, and said I should still do the short... eventually I made the decision to put it on hold, but her support of my goals and desires was so evident and I won't forget it

You just make sure you return the favor :)

Remember, successful and rewarding relationships don't just happen... they are the product of hard work... it's a never ending, but endlessly rewarding, job.

...in five years we've never once had a fight or a heated debate or shared a disagreeable glare...

Somehow, that just sounds unhealthy to me. I kinda feel sorry for you both.

ONE TIME about three years ago I rolled my eyes when she said something in the next room that was just silly. Immediately I went and told her that I'd just rolled my eyes and that I shouldn't have done that and that I was sorry.

This is wrong on so many levels I wouldn't know where to even begin.

...we are always being honest and true to ourselves...That's what love...is -- the act of ignoring your human self.

WTF?

Sorry, man. That just sounds like an F'ed up, high maintenance relationship. I don't subscribe to some strange, holistic or metaphysical philosophy when it comes to relationships. I just want to be myself, have the ability to see someone else's point of view, say I'm sorry when I need to and have her "get" my jokes.

I have found that even the most well-meaning and well-matched people (platonic or romantic) have bad days and miscommunication. That inevitably leads to occasional friction. That is something to be embraced. Conflict, in and of itself, is not a bad thing. It is often merely the symptom of a misunderstanding, or paradoxically, a clearer understanding of a previous misperception. Sometimes it is just two people who disagree. Conflict is an opportunity for better understanding and collaborative problem solving. Conflict reveals priorities. Without conflict there is no growth.

I have found I rarely argue with my furniture.
