I am not a predator

This might seem opportunistic but in actual fact I've been shopping around for a new motorcycle for a few weeks now. I talked to a guy today with a Kawasaki Ninja at a decent price. But apparently he doesn't have the title, he financed it so the bank has the paper. Anyone know that pitfalls or have any advice when buying vehicles that are still under finance from a lender? Everything I've ever purchased has had a pink slip.

If buying mortgaged properties from other players in the board game, "Monopoly" has taught me anything... it's a bad idea.

But like I said, my finance education is through Milton Bradley. (kinda sounds like a fancy wall street operation ;) )

Or are you?

Dammit, Callaghan! Beat me to it! :D

Brian, that is Chris Hansen from Dateline NBC and he is doing a program on computer predators. Your screen name is "LuceGoose69" is it not?

I'd meet the guy at the bank, pay the loan off, pay him any difference and make arrangements with the bank to deliver the title if they can't do it on the spot. Also, have the seller sign any other state-required transfer papers (e.g. registration) and get a notarized bill of sale guaranteeing delivery of clear title.

I give up, who is that?

he is the guy you would see if the ninja was actually a 13 year old asian girl named kawasaki. upon meeting him, he would read aloud your messages and ask you to explain exactly what you meant when you wrote, "if i'm paying, i want the pink slip".

This was a question about financing a motorcycle. There's a major Yuck factor here. I regret starting this thread. Some of you are way too creepy.

I'd like to thank J. Michael for his, as usual, informed comment and ask that the moderators delete this thread, it's become unsavory in tone and topic.
