F3: Hyperdeck Shuttle v2 trigger with F3

I'm thinking of getting a Hyperdeck Shuttle v2 to use with the F3.

Can any of you guys using this combination let me know if the F3 will trigger the Shuttle into recording while simultaneously recording onto the internal cards?

Also the BM price for mini BNC to BNC cables is pretty steep I think around £48-50 is there any alternative to these cables?

Also does the Prores codec have any issues with recording IRE values over 100 on the Shuttle. If I recall some of the hypergammas can record signals of 109 IRE. If I can recoded levels higher than 100 can I use levels in Premier to pull the whites back to broadcast safe and recover highlights?

Just a quick picture of how the rig is shaping up so far :)

By the way since I sold my F3 a while ago, I have no real need for my BMD hyperdeck shuttle2 and other parts from it if you might be interested to buy it.

This was how I had it rigged up:

Thanks for the links Victor. $50 would not be too bad it's £50 which is approximately $100 I think.

Agree the Shuttle is very well priced for the amount of functionality. It also has hdmi in and out as well as sdi which may be useful too.

I've attached my Shuttle 2 with a couple of blocks and rods from Berkey into the Berkey top plate. I'm using a rechargable 12v battery to power the Shuttle and stick it to the velcro on the side of the Shuttle.

Mounted like this I can easily see the record button, it's easy to pop a SSD disk in and out and the recorder doesn't block any controls on the camera other than the handgripe record button.

Hiya Dennis,

Thank for the link.

I'm picking up my Shuttle v2 from CVP UK tomorrow afternoon. I purchased a brand new unit with cables and mounting plate. I did search for vendors selling the cables in the UK but didn't have much joy. So I bit the bullet and ordered the cables too, as I have a shoot coming up very soon and couldn't wait for cables to ship from the US.

The price for the Shuttle is very attractive and it should pay for itself on the first shoot :)

Also picked up a couple of SSD's and I'll be trying tomorrow to record to SXS and the shuttle simultaneously.
Any tips in getting this to work would be very much appreciated.

Just a quick unrelated question. Have any of you guys tried the Teradek Bolt ?

Looks good Osslund.

I'll have to look at mounting possitions tomorrow when my Shuttle arrives :)

P.S. SSD from hyperdeck is pain in arse on PC platform since the native format for the SSD becomes MAC based. In order to use on PC you will need a program like "MacDrive" to read and erase them. NOTE: hyperdeck can not erase a DISK !!

Windows 7 wouldn't format exfat for me untiil I installed the extra utility. I had no EXFAT option avaialable under format disk.

What version is your Windows?

win 7. If you used macdrive on the ssd you need to remove the partition and partition it in discmanagment in win 7
