Hyperdeck Shuttle 2 now does ProRes.

I monitor via the shuttles hdmi out, look for the little "signal" light, and of course I cannot record anything. Ill check the sdi/hdmi selection, thanks for the help!

Yes he said he tried the regular "SDI out" (aka monitor out) without any luck. The default on the camera outputs HD signal out the "SDI out" BNC connector (top right BNC on back of F3) and one reason it might not is if camera is in SD mode, or, in HD mode if under VIDEO SET menu you don't have "HD SDI" selected.

Let us know Richard, we're a curious bunch.

I wonder what would create a better flat image using this shuttle to prores, the c300, F3 or scarlet??

First you have to define "better flat image". They are all very different cameras with different strengths In different situations. And there are always considerations besides image quality.

I mean a flat image suitable for grading

I understood that, my point was more that image quality is subjective and complex. F3 slog probably has slightly more latitude, but c300 is quite a bit sharper. Both cameras have different types and levels of aliasing. Probably if I wanted more latitude I would choose the F3, but if resolution was more important I might use the c300. Why do you want a flat image anyway? Wouldn't an image that requires less post work be preferable in some situations? Do you see flat recording as simply a way to overcome limited bit depth or is it something else?

These days it takes me about 15 seconds to grade a scene in primaries (I have done thousands). A flat image doesnt represent any more work than a baked in one. In fact I find it quite the opposite, because the latter inevitably will always need to be tweaked as well. The primary reason I chose the F3 is because of that video above by filippo. I have not been disappointed.

If you want resolution, then RED would be a better option than the C300.

I am just having a really hard time choosing a camera to use with the shuttle, c100 or scarlet or c300 with no shuttle
me persoanlly, I like to shoot flat images even with hpx170 or 5d, even though I know that I am not gaining much, its just the way I have always done it

Hi Richard,

I discovered today using the Hyperdeck Shuttle 2 that it won't record at 720p59.94 on my rig either. I made a point of trying to record at 720p59.94 and using S & Q 720p60. I also tried dialing down the frame rate on S & Q to see if that had any effect. The record light blips on for a nano second when triggering with the record switch but that is it.

However, that was with the unit recording through the "A" Port of the dual-link SDI which only sends out a 1080 signal. That is where the problem is. When I moved the cable over to the "SDI Port", switched off the dual link A port (you can only have two HD video out ports active). Then I switched the video out to HD SDI & HDMI. Connected my HDMI EVF to the HDMI port and everything works as advertised.
