Hvx200a

Very nice. Perhaps a mod could make it sticky? I'm not sure if editing one's own post would bump it or not (my guess is not). No big deal either way, though. We can always reply to it periodically just so it doesn't get buried.

I've got another feature to add: the ability to ramp from one frame rate to another in-camera.

I thought of another one: A center mark/crosshair option!

Also (correct me if I am wrong, the camera is not in front of me) there are only side hashes for 4:3 markers when doing HD/16:9. It would be nice if there were top and bottom action safe markers as well.

You already have a sort of center marker, turn on the "marker" option in display setup and toggle to it by using the zebra button.

And yes, there is a 90% "safe zone" that shows up in 16:9 as well as 4:3.

Guidelines for 16:9 if shooting in 4:3 mode...dunno why you would shoot in 4:3 mode in the first place..but its nice to have just in case for those rare occasions

Also 2:35:1 guide bars.

...did someone say these already?

Right, the marker option sort of works but the % numbers moving around are a distraction. But yeah, it makes do for now...a + crosshair would be much appreciated though! ;-)

As far as 4:3 safety zones in a 16:9 frame, are the letter box bars accurate for that in case of a 4:3 center crop? For some reason I think that they may not be and the top and bottom may be cut off. Let me know if I am wrong. But yes, the 4:3 Normal mode has top and bottom bars...that's what I'm looking for in case the ones in the 16:9 modes aren't displaying as they should.

We might be reaching now...considering even the Varicam doesn't speed ramp as far as I know.
But no argument here, that would obviously be cool.
:)

Yea it does.. would be very cool if the hvx could.. but you know. That would be a big ask.

Frame rate changes in 1 frame increments would be cool, just to add to having support for the ones that can be accessed via the hack.

16x lens at least, a 20x would be the ideal. The current lens is great on the wide end but the telephoto end is sorely lacking....

true, but at this price youd get the same Chroma Abberation you get on cameras like the XHa1 and JVD HD100/200. They have longer lenses, but at this price point, the CA in the glass, makes them iffy to work with.

Yes, but -- don't forget CAC. Having used that in the HPX500, it's brilliant -- it should be standard equipment on every fixed-lens camcorder.

Updated the list today:

-Removed duplicate entries
-Clarified entries
-Added the following requests:

#4 - Longer Focal Length Range (16x or 20x)
#5 - Addition of CAC
#22 - HD-SDI output (with embedded audio)

Check it out here

If there are any more suggestions over the next week I will update it again next week.
If I've missed anything, just let me know.

CAC would be nice on an hvx200.

In a dream world.... imagine a HVX100. Same form factor but with 640x720 chips, and full on horizontal pixel shift. it only records 720p DVCprohd, but with its imager only having big fat pixels and its destination 960x720, the limited horixzontal should give it a decently sharp picture, but with better lowlight and less noise....

I'd rather see an HVX100 that uses the same HVX chipset, but records to AVC-HD. A native 1920x1080 @ 24p recording format, on cheap SD cards. I doubt we're going to see any more 720-only product from anybody but JVC, and even JVC is now offering some consumer 1080 products.

I've been keeping track of this list and I don't even know if anyone mentioned this one yet:

Fully manual lens - including and IRIS RING on the lens.

Yes, Yes for iris ring and 16x lens. I may be showing my age but coming from a 35mm slr background with the iris ring on the lens feels more natural to operate than a thumb wheel.

Here's one I've not seen that a mate suggested.

How about an undelete last deleted clip function? I suppose the downside is you would take up some room like the re-cycle bin in windows.

How about the ability to have both an AC adapter and battery connected at the same time? That way if you need AC for event shooting, and there's a drop in the power for some reason, your battery will kick in, and you don't interrupt the shot.

Seems to me if a ~$400 notebook can do this, the ~$5000 HVX should be able to also...
