HVX200a 1/2 off retail @ BH???!!!!

Yeah, whats up with that? Too bad they didnt drop the price of the 170 to like $3,000 or something, I might have finally been able to buy one. Sheesh

Now a hard question: They are selling the HPX170 for $4000 and the HVX200a for $3800, which would you choose?

For a long time the HVX was more expensive than the HPX. I imagine the market has dictated a change in that marketing plan. The HMC-150 has probably cannibalized both of them for the folks that won't buy P2. Do you suppose the HVX is going away into camera retirement? Is the HDX900 and SDC615 the last Panny tape drive cams? I am full of......questions today.

id say hpx all the way. worth the extra $300.

im getting a used hpx for $3300 with 16gb p2 card 2 batteries.

i cant wait.

It is $3800 or something without a p2 card

It's actually 3995 WITH a p2 card at B&H right now. It's an excellent value, I simply can't come up with that kind of cash to buy it. Heck even at $3000 I would have to scramble, use credit cards, and put myself in a bad financial situation just to get the cam.

The AG-HVX200A's price was adjusted (it went down). Check it out, we've got a new price and you still get an extra battery or CoverLens: AG=HVX200A

16GB P2 card, or not 16GB P2 card, that is the question. The answer depends on the dealer's stock.

The HVX200A will no longer include a 16GB P2 card. It will continue to ship with Barry Green's book and all the standard accessories. The model # will now be AG-HVX200APS (P for Pacific, it's a U.S. NTSC camera) to distinguish the difference in packaging. It is not a change in the model itself, the camera is the same, this is just a package / routing reference code.

The P2 card / no P2 card confusion looks like it was a kind of overlap. From what we understand, the price change went into effect before the card-less cameras started to ship (apparently they are shipping some time in May?).

So for a very very brief period, you have access to the AG-HVX200APJ with an AJ-P2C016XG and Barry Green's book in the box -- at the new price point. As long as the dealer has that model # in stock, it has a 16GB card. If they have stock from before April, it will be at the older, higher price.

At least that is what we can discern at this time, there was some conflicting information about this. At the very least, you know that:

AG-HVX200APJ = 16GB P2 card, Barry Green book, was more $$

AG-HVX200APS = no 16GB P2 card, has Barry Green book, is less $$

I would recommend confirming with your dealer if the camera they ship you has a P2 card inside. They can check the serial # and find out when it was manufactured to make sure.

Clear as mud now?

I have an HVX200a that I was thinking of selling it has a total of 215 hours on it. I was going to sell it with all the gear (Redrock, nikon lenses, tripod, mattbox, laptop with vegas pro). A friend of mine was interested in buying it but didn't want all the gear so he offered me $3400 for just the camera. I was thinking is that kind of low at the moment or is that a good price? I wanted $4k.

That's a very good price for jsut the camera. If you look at that link, BH is selling it used for 3000. And if you look at the marketplace people are selling theirs for 2500.
