HVX200 promo movie

I had a question. Even from the quick glimpses of clips that I guess are shot by the HVX200, they are not looking as good as I thought they would. However, I also noticed that many of the DVX films posted on this site look very "video" like and not film like at all. I have seen DVX footage that looks almost like 16mm film. So, is the compression of making these clips available for the internet causing them to look so much like video? I only ask because movie trailers on the internet still look film like to me, but for some reason, the DVX footage seems to lose a lot of its film qualities.

I think it depends on the skills. Even if you got the camera like DVX100, it doesn't mean you will get that pro-look immediately, if you don't know what you are doing. It's not only the camera, it's about other things as well.

"Internet" movie trailers done by the studios are using expensive versions of Sorensen compression tools not normally available to others. Plus they do shoot in 35m....

if you light a film camera wrong, it's probably not going to look good either.
one of the first things i shot with my dvx100a looked almost exactly like 16mm film, because i got lucky and filmed a palmetto plant at exactly the right time of day, at exactly the right angle

remember, it's not the equipment that's responsible for everything...yet...
