HVX200 promo movie

"p2" sounds like he was announcing "bloody roar" or "tekken 4", anyway how did you save it?

Also note how "handy" this cam is looks approximately huge in relationship to that man back there heh...

Interesting use of viewfinder and LCD in the picture above.

Is that man a dwarf or is the camera really that big!?!

I think it should come with a chest brace. The DVX was the absolute limit for a handheld IMO, now this behemoth comes along. The position of the view finder would make it tough to make any pseudo/hybrid shoulder rack mount.

This is not a hand held camera for POV shots.

at least he had ONE eye open. He's probably looking at a black screen. It's probably not even powered up :)

I think they must have used a wide angle lens to make the camera look bigger than the guy in the background. I guess the marketing guys want you to feel like you're getting more for your money.

Notice all the low angle shots of the cam. Sort of hiding the eyepiece.
This cam is like a female model with flaws. You have to film it at certain angles ;)

That dude has one eye in the viewfinder and the other eye on the LCD

Oh, c'mon, guys... don't you realize?

Obviously, there's a heretofore unannounced feature... The HVX shoots in 3DHD. Monitoring in the field requires one eye on the viewfinder, one on the LCD, and you have to sort of practice letting your focus drift until you get the 3D image.

Sorry, Jan, I know I probably shouldn't leak this...

I had a question. Even from the quick glimpses of clips that I guess are shot by the HVX200, they are not looking as good as I thought they would. However, I also noticed that many of the DVX films posted on this site look very "video" like and not film like at all. I have seen DVX footage that looks almost like 16mm film. So, is the compression of making these clips available for the internet causing them to look so much like video? I only ask because movie trailers on the internet still look film like to me, but for some reason, the DVX footage seems to lose a lot of its film qualities.

It's highly unlikely that any of the footage in that video was shot on the HVX. They haven't released any footage from it yet.

On top of which I find it pretty astounding that anyone would try and judge footage by a really low resolution and highly compressed web video!

That's my whole point. How come movie trailers on the internet don't seem to lose that film like quality as much as the DVX100A. Like I said before, when I saw DVX footage uncompressed, I thought it looked close to 16mm. However, all the stuff shot on the DVX and posted on the internet looks very much like video to me. What is happening during this conversion process that is taking that film like look away.

Naturally, matters of resolution are lost when video/film is downconverted to a web version... but I, personally, can still detect that filmic feel. The difference between a DVX and other consumer DV cameras is pretty readily apparent to me even when viewing a more highly compressed and lower-resolution clip. For me, a lot of it is in the framerate (which may or may not be altered for a web version... let's pretend they haven't halved the framerate) and the lattitude and way the light is captured, which are the chief things that are (essentially) preserved... and what the DVX excels at... and hopefully the HVX will too.
