I pulled mine down 3 days ago. - I got a letter from my ISP saying that I'd gone way over my 100GB/month limit and if it continued they'd start billing me preaty hard for it. 1€/GB in fact...

For those interested, I used 411GB of bandwidth in December.. so that's about 410GB of HVX clips (if I'm optemistic regarding the normal traffic on my site...prolly actually closer to 410.8GB for the HVX clips.)

I didn’t hit my limit...just found the files unusable for my use.
I was gung hoe for the HVX and it did not live up to what I need…I won’t buy it I have other options

The only other options are the XL H1 or the JVC HD100. I still don't see any option besides the HVX personally. Atleast not in the $10,000 price range.

99 to 1 Ill get banned again for my like of non Apple hardware.

Apple blind sided Jan via non P2 in new "Great huge POS" books or whatever they are called. (Makes me wonder)
But at the same time, only FCP5 supports format of said camera
So P2 is PC but non compatible with editors of the day on PC...I just go with flow

Can't imagine why. Most of the folks on this board are PC.

Here you are outstandingly incorrect. There is greater support. And I don't think Apple was even thinking of the pro as the potential buyer for the new Mac-Book Why else would it not launch with FCP from day one. They didn't blind-side me, or Panasonic for that matter, there are computers in the Apple line up that work.

Wrong. Avid works, Canopus works. Sony doesn't work today, nor does Premiere. So, that is only today.

To each their own.

Best,

jan

Avid and Canopus support it too, so it's not like Apple's the only choice. And it's not Jan or Panasonic who gets blindsided, it's the customers who would have been able to use the new macbooks, but now because of Apple's decision the customer may have to take extra steps. And besides, the new intel Macs don't run FCP yet anyway, it'll be a few months before they'd even be an option. Who knows, a solution may present itself before then.

Avid is fully P2-compliant; they just need to update it to provide for a 1080/24p timeline, but it supports the files already and can edit it using pulldown if necessary. And Canopus has 100% full support.

EDIT: DOH! Jan beat me to it.

Wrong, Avid, small guy(non 100k), is half Ass...Canopus not sure.
Jan I’m not directly pointing at you But I do remember a post from you that said something about “I wasn’t aware of the new macs not supporting the P2” Ill dig out direct quote if you want

Hi Jan
Well to tell you the truth the Premiere deal is quite annoying. It seems that they will suport HDV but not DVCPRO HD nativly in PPRO2. Probably this info is inacurate but if lets say its not then indeed there is an issue TODAY. Of caurse adobe is to blame for that matter. Right now personaly since I am probably going to stick with adobe I even consider JVC as an option. I only wished that Panasonic or whatever company uses a format that is not suported in general that they provide a software with the camera that transcodes it the way Raylight does.

If you're sold on the XL H1 Sal then, yes, you are crazy. =P
I would hold my judgements on the H1 until I saw some footage that didn't look like high quality home video.
