Can anyone confirm this? I have been told by iFrame Media who are an authorised Panasonic Dealer in the UK that the HVX200 will be launched this month.

I have no reason to doubt them as I bought my DVX100 from them 2 years ago
They have an announcement on their website:

I received an email from my supplier stating that Panasonic UK will be getting a shipment on the 12th March , they QA them and ship out to suppliers by the 20th and suppliers then ship to pre ordered customers by the 22nd March.

I have just spoken again to www.iframemediashop.com
and they have told me they have a price of £3500 exc vat for the hvx200 without P2 cards although they don't have any stock yet.

They have told me there is quite a few back orders for the camera So I have just pre ordered mine from them and they are throwing in a free hi capacity battery with the camera and free shipping.

Do you think this is a good deal? It's done now anyway.

They have given me great service and support in the past and they were recommended to me by a lecturer at an Edinburgh University.

Yep. That is fantastic prize for PAL-version, let's hope it's PAL-version. Ahaa, is Globalmedia pro located in UK? I thought it was in New Zealand...?

Global Media Pro are a company that imports from New Zealand or Hong Kong so they are not a Panasonic registered dealer. I found this out when I was going to buy my DVX100 from them. I then decided against buying from then because I had to buy a Mack warranty and had no local support in the UK.

I also found out that there was imprt duty to pay over and above the VAT. So I think although I paid more I was right to stick with iFrame Media.

The HVX listed is the HVX-200 60i/60p version not the HVX-200E (50i/50p)
Could be them listing the wrong specs and name though....

GMP has two offices. One in NZ and one in UK. almost all products ship from NZ and will get added import tax and "video in" EU tax when they rech customs.
Items shipping from the UK will not get taxes added.

I've bought from iframemedia and would never go back to them. No support whatsoever, they are just interested in shifting boxes and when I say "they" its a one man band operation.

I live less than 5 miles from their office and didn't get any help with some issues I had with the camera. Mitcorp who have branches throughout the UK have excellent aftersales customer service. They might not be the cheapest to buy from but I'd rather spend the extra £100 or so and buy from them knowing that I will get the service support level I require for this kind of business.

I have to say that I am surpised at the comments regarding lack of support from Irame media. I have bought many thousands of pounds worth of equipment from them over the years in my capacity as Chief Technician with a local college. It has been my experience that the back up and support I got was excellent and I have no hesitation in recommending them as a first class dealer. I would also comment that Iframe media have several employees and can't understand where you get your information.

I stand corrected, apparantly iframe media have 5 staff and apparantly the sales guy who I dealt with no longer works for the company hence the lack of support....and I was told by the company MD that I should have made more of an effort in getting in touch with them in getting things resolved. I apologise.

Still it would have been nice if they had contacted me (considering I was an apparant existing customer) to see if I was interested in the new HVX200. Mitcorp UK were only to happy to take a deposit last November to guarantee a first shipment place.

Now I may not have the yearly budget of a college or teaching institute but I spend in excess of £30,000 (GBP) on replacing/upgrading video and steadicam equipment every year. Would you as supplier turn your nose up at that? Maybe I'm just too small a customer for them to bother with I don't really know.

Back to the HVX news....I've just received my 17" Panasonic HD LCD, man its sweet as a nut. Just need the camcorder to hook up to it and really test it out. I've been told to expect the HVX around the 20th March but I'm not holding my breath. Anyone else had any updates yet?
