Haven't found any great info so far searching online...
Does anyone have a tip on mounting the HVX200 and latest i5 iMacs?

The new Firewire 800 port doesn't seem to recognize my camera at all.
I always get a "1394 disconnected". Using a standard Firewire 400 cable on my friends older Mackbook Pro and this thing gets mounted instantly!

Please note, all the latest P2 drivers are installed on my machine.
What can I do to fix this?

David S. Will this work to log and transfer directly from the camera or live feed it too?
This is the main reason I wanted to stay in Firewire.

No go. FCP will not let me log and transfer a live feed or the Mini DV format using USB.
Any other suggestions at this point David?

You cannot log and transfer a "live feed" from the camera.

You can however, mount a p2 card on the desktop, copy it intact to your HDD, and log and transfer the p2 folder contents into FCP.

As to capturing SD DV from the camera, the issue is probably the 4 pin to 9 pin cable, which is dicey.

This is the only thing not working at the moment. Any suggestions how I can achieve this?

May not be easy. I've been using the HVX with a previous Macbook Pro and a current Imac running 10.5.8, absolutely no issues using P2 via Firewire. However, I have never once been able to capture DV in FCP - always end up using Imovie to accomplish that.

After 3 days of trouble shooting, several hardware and cable tests.

The Firewire 800 port was faulty on this new machine. Got a new one and back at editing flawlessly now. Thx for all the input guys. I hope no one as to waste so much time on something like this in the future...
