In my search for the best possible deal, Ive now come across two sites that are offering the base camera for as little as $1799 and the other has the camera at $1999. To me this is a steal.

My question is are these prices even realistic? Or are the cameras finally coming down in price or are getting ready to?

if you like throwing your money away...buy it. Please reffer to the sticky on this site about cameras or follow the link above.

To be fair, it was only a few years ago that scams of this magnitude did not exist. A "scam" was buying a camera for an OK price and being pressured
to buy worthless accessories, then getting lousy customer service. You actually got the grey market camera. Now they have "raised the bar" and will not only "sell" you an HVX for $1800 that ends up on endless backorder, but also sell you the worthless accessories for ripoff prices and often steal and resell your credit card info to boot. Whats next?

The other thing that exists today that was unheard of just a few years ago are fake online shops that make you wire your money overseas/pay through money orders and never ship your merchandise, and fake escrow services used to give winning bidders in online auctions a false sense of security.

I don't understand why these people even bother. If you walked by a car dealership and saw a Ferarri on the lot with a sticker in the window that said $1800, wouldn't you be thinking that there was something horribly wrong there? It's just not going to happen, you aren't going to get a Ferarri for $1800 and your not going to get the HVX for that either, what you will get is ripped off, loose your money altogether and wonder why oh why was a fool and his money soon parted. Do what the rest of us did and SAVE SAVE SAVE until you can buy from a reputable dealer, of which there are many links to reputable sites on this forum. If you can't stomach the thought of paying $5500 for the camera, maybe your looking at the wrong camera. $1800 in the consumer market will get you a nice consumer camera, maybe that's what your looking for.

Maybe I'm just in a bad mood, :Drogar-Smoke(DBG):
but I swear to God the next person to ask is it safe to buy a product for less then half of what it retails for, we need to say...

GO FOR IT. Then wait for them to respond in a couple weeks and LAUGH OUR ARSES OFF!!!!

Nuff said.

What I don't understand is why no body seems to look at:

THE BIG YELLOW STICKY THREAD AT THE TOP OF THE PAGE ABOUT BUYING.

It is amazing what some of these places get away with. Every day we get phone calls telling us that our price is a rip-off because they can get it on-line for half that. We just can't seem to convince those people of anything. Then a couple of weeks later they call us to find out how much the accessories are.

LOL!!!!

The *BEST* price you're going to find an HVX from an authorized dealer is $4,995. I know because I just ordered one yesterday after checking out every auth dealer's price and reputation.

If it's less than five grand today, it's a scam.

What I want to know is how they get away with it. I know as an online retailer that if I pulled that crap, I'd surely have the FTC shutting me down pending an investigation. I'm amazed that these scam companies not only have the audacity, but that no one has pursued them for it.

This has been answered and re-answered thoroughly in this thread, and many others like it.

Don't buy it. Perriioood. Period. Don't buy it.
