HVX200 + Compact Flash 16Go ?

That is correct - in case that link didnt explain it the p2 card is a raid of 4 sd chips all in one little unit. The CF card just wouldnt have the throughput capabilities.

I would say you should re-concider that solid "no"

Do the math.

DVCProHD is 100MegaBits per second data.

8 MegaBits in 1 Megabyte

So 100 Megabits / 8 MegaBytes = 12.5 Megabytes per second.

According to Newegg this card http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820208297 has a 266x speed, which is rated at 40MB/s

Generally capital MB stands for MegaBytes.

40MegaBytes per second would be a fast enough transfer rate, but that says max. It would have to hold a consistant 12.5MegaBytes per second (assuming the PCMCIA --> CF adaptor can write to the card that fast.)

I would say it's worth a shot, but I would call the company to see if thats MegaBits or MegaBytes per second.

However, if the P2 cards have some sort of protection chip, or a lockout then no standard PCMCIA -->CF reader will do it.

It's more than just the memory and through-put issue. Alot more to it.
Think about it. There would be 3rd party cards flooding the market if it were that simple.
The Hoodman cards are the first and we're still waiting for them.

its not that easy. the P2 card itself is a small computer. there is a reason its 900$. it has a data controller and the raid controller. its not just "4 SD cards".

If you could do this cheaper, I am certain some 3rd party manufacturer would have stepped in by now.

Given that you can find any p2 cards in quantity, there is a definite market
