HVX200 Camcorder Companion?

Hi,

I often find myself in sensitive situations while filming in different countries. Apart from being harassed and threatened to take my HVX200 by the Russian mafia in the red square, I've been chased and almost robbed on several occassions.

Does anyone out there recommend any of the latest HD home camcorders that can be used in conjunction with the HVX200? Mike Rowe, with the hit TV show "Dirty Jobs" on the discovery channel is using one of these handheld HD home video cameras, but I can't seem to figure out which one.

Anyways, does anyone have a good recommendation on which one is the best?

Thanks,
Jeremy

How strange... I've been all over the world with my HVX Japan, China, Thailand, Egypt, India to name a few and will be flighing out to Central and South America in a few days and yet have never had the slightest problem...

The UK is probably the worst place in the world coz having a camera/camcorder in a public place makes you either a paedophile or a terrorist. Most people reading this will think I'm joking..... I'M NOT! :(

Indy....

Having been to the former Soviet Union, I can tell you that there are places where it can get pretty scary. Red Square is among them. Then there were the toothless hookers banging on my hotel door all night at some little town in Ukraine... but that's another story. In those situations, a small touristy camera is best but do watch out for your safety even with that. Canon HV20, as has been mentioned. I would also consider Panasonic's little AVC-HD entry.
