So i reached the limit of the post size for the first post, so the NEWS WILL CONTINUE IN THIS POST.. ..untill i fill it up again!
(only 10,000 characters Jarred.. i coudl use a little more space..)
SO, continuing coverage from IBC2005.
The DVX100B and the HVX200 are discuassed in the first post of this thread.
Continuing where i left off.. here's info on the XL(?) and the A1..
***** Canon XL(?)
Ok, there is NOTHING to report about this camera, except that is it coming, and that will will do HDV.. and it has a near identical form factor to the XL2.
Infact, Canon where so tight lipped about it, in saying just that "[you will know/it will be announced at the Canon Expo in NY]" ... to be honest, the thing in the case that the pictures are of, *could* be a decoy, and canon wouldn't have lied.. they are keepign it that quiet.
The rep at IBC was slamost smiling as to the fact that he knew something that he just wasn't allowed to tell... then agian he soinded like maybe he didn't know either.
It is a very carefully orchistrated game that Canon is playing.. I guess they will show is their cards in just a few days time.
I have shot some picutres for an article at www.camcorderinfo.com ..and I will be shooting a few more, closeups, tommorrow that they will supposedly also publish.
We will see what the annoucement tells us of this new camera..
and on a final note for today:
***** Sony HCR-A1 ...this is the palmcorder version of the Z1, and the 'pro' version of the HC1.
It shoots a rather nice picture, and based from looking at it's component feed in an HD monitor, it actualy looked like the chips are ok.. Pity to wase them on HDV really... and it even performed well in the not-so well lit ares of the demo set.
But i did ask one question that is of personal importance to me: The A1 is also a MULTI-STANDARD camera.. just like it's big brother, the Z1, you can switch from 50i/PAL to 60i/NTSC and the camera will reboot in teh new mode.
Very cool if you are just looking for a small palmcorder for traveling around with and shooting DV and DVCAM ..oh yeah, and HDV if you want to. ;-)
...................
And that concoludes my report for the end of day 2 of IBC 2005. it's 00:30 and I need to back at the tradeshow at 9:30am, so i'm off to bed.
Tommorrow I will be taking some time to scout around the rest of IBC and see what else interesting I can find.
I hope to speak to Jan again, in more lenth about the HVX, and i will be taking new pictures of the XL(?) for camcorderinfo.
-> I will have my laptop at the show tommorrow, so expect an update from the show floor, sometime around mid afternnon my time. And then again a full write up at the end of the day. (Though possibly just a little later as I have a meeting in the evening)
