Hvx200 : 3x CCD of 1920x1080 Pixels EACH!

Hello there, i'm new of this forum, and i'm italian people.
I want to tell you that in Italy, a famous reseller called ADCOM.it declares that Ag-HVX200 has 3x CCD of 1920x1080 pixels, Real Resolution. Evr'y CCD!
You can find the article here: http://www.adcom.it/visrecord.php?id=13610
Adcom is a leader of cinema camera selling, I think they're near to Panasonic to give this details, they announced this specs about one month ago, while I've seen confused details about it over the web but this company has a professional commercial site dedicated to Cinema making.
This announcements is dedicated to Professionals people (as "Cincecittà Holding" in Rome) that making movies for living, they can't lie to them.
They repeat with certainty this specs with clarity.
I hope this helps,

Cheers:)

And a 13x lens, I wait with my yippyyahoo until things are sure, don´t think this is reality. For 1920x1080 pixels on each CCD you need to cramp a lot of very small pixels in a 1/3" CCD size design, you probably end up with a lot of noise and no lattitude.

It does seem a bit suspect that this one site would broadcast that info. when Panasonic's own site doesn't advertise it. Also since this info has apparently been out for a month without circulating or being commented on by anyone makes me want to dismiss it. However it would be nice to get a confirmation on the validity of our italian friends' claims.

I believe this info as much as I trust the new B&H catalog saying the HVX is HDV.

Last week the Sales Manager of Panasonic Broadcast Europe told me, that the camera will look like it would have three 2 megapixel CCDs, but in reality it will use pixel shift and some other methods to get its incredible picture quality.

B&H site seems to me less professional site than Adcom, it appears a site that has a friendly interface, they seems "want to sell good stuff to good people".
Adcom is a professional site, it has not friendly interface, if you want buy you must register giving info of your Company, not info about you as "normal people" that want to buy cameras.
I've seen much websites in US, or in the world, they have good camera, good price, but they appear as they sell expensive toys, it could be because in Italy we don't have an indie market as you :(
So this tech-world it's very for few people! Our country is very poor, we have problems to have a wage that covers food, primary needs...thanks to the China and Berlusconi! :(
So this info seems to be very very dedicated to professional people.
Nobody in Italy spends 10000 euros for a camera for "hobbie", for a work that doesn't pay.
I'll be very lucky to buy it because I want to make movies and I love cinema (I don't want make money with it), the proof is that I've no friends here in Naples that can buy a camera so priced...perhaps into Nord Italy they're more people that buy those cameras because they have more money, but Sud Italy is more like Third World...

I hope this helps

Cheers:)

I highly doubt those specs are accurate. Again, the pixel-shift is a win-win for everyone. High resolution, lower noise, greater dynamic range.

1920x1080 is too much for 1/3" CCDs, I think.

I too really doubt that this is accurate information. Not only is it highly unlikely that anyone would try to build a 1/3" CCD with that dense of sensor array, but it wouldn't even be a good choice as there would be little if any performance gain and would result in really poor noise and low light performance. 1920 x 1080 isn't even a DVCPRO pixel format.

Its only a few more weeks out and all this speculation can finally be put to rest.

Make that 1280, not 1920.

Highly unlikely. If these were the specs, Panasonic would be advertising them.

Wasn't trying to compare the site to B&H. Was just pointing out that re-sellers make mistakes on product information all the time. Sometimes by accident...sometimes on purpose.

Best

OT:

well the thing i like about that italian site is their grouping of camcorders by codec and CCD size

you want to browse DV 1/3" cameras...you got it.

it's just a shame it's all in italian :) as i can't read it, nice to see the DVX100BE in stock though!

Just stumbled upon this. The link is to a website for a tape to film transfer company that is advertising the HVX transfer process. Wonder if they got their info from our Italian friends or if there is some kernel of truth to this news of 1920 x 1080. I didn't think it was possible however having it pop up on a Texas based companies website draws up a red flag.

uuummmmm, this doesn't make any sense. Unless they came up with some completely radical new technology to limit noise in the signal amongst other things. Somebody is confused. Although, I'm suprised DVFilmaker would state such a thing. I'm usually wrong about 95% of the time, so who knows.

DVFilmmaker is just plain wrong saying that...

"The movie is stored on the P2 card as a 1920 x 1080i .mxf file, at 29.97 frames/sec for compatibility with standard HD editing systems such as FCP-HD and Avid Express Pro HD."

...it's 1280 by 1080 in NTSC land, with a 1.5 pixel aspect ratio...

yeah, we already know the cam uses pixel shift. so thats just more inaccurate info out there on the www. no big suprise that theres wrong info somewhere on the net.
