HVX vs Canon 5D Still Camera

It also shoots @ 30fps. Fine for NTSC video - for film outs/international- not so much. Too bad, really. Guess it leaves the door open to Scarlet
 
I don't think the 5D MarkII will be a serious contender for docs. or indie prods. (much less episodic television or film-outs), but I really don't think that is Canon's intended market. I can see photo-journalists and wedding photographers being able to grab a few short (relatively decent) looking clips from their still camera, and maybe "Uncle Charley" capturing a few high def. moments at the family pic-nic. However .... it just might be an indication of what other manufacturers may bring to the market in the future. Who knows?
 
I think you need to notice the fact that they hired a professional DP for a professionally lit demo video. Having that camera does not meen getting helicopter shots of the empire state building.
