I have always shot slow mo in 720 24pn 60 Film Mode.

But am running into a problem on a shoot with a really fast moving Eagle in flight.

To get a crisp clear shot of the bird:

1. should I shoot 720P60 at 60 in video or Film mode or do even have the option of mode.

Best way to convert on a mac is it still compressor and fcp to slow mo or is there another way.

All of the footage is going into a 24p timeline in fcp.

The goal is to get crisp clear images of the bird in slow mo.

As always any help would be appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

Copied from my notes library this from DVXUser Mangler

FROM MANGLER ON SLO MO USING CINEMA TOOLS
cheers on the cam purchase. I'm going to be shooting a lot of
60p with mine.

the best way to conform the 60p stuff to 24p is through cinema tools.

create a new folder and *copy*(hold option and drag to copy) all of your 60p clips in it to be conformed
open cinema tools, it might prompt you with 3 options, open, create and read documents
just click create new and then cancel, you don't need a project to do this.
then in cinema tools, click file>batch conform
then navigate to your folder with your 60p clips in it.
select one clip and then hit ok
a window will open asking what you want to conform to, select it in the drop down.
cinema tools then performs magic and sorcery while you wait(very shortly)
now you how have 24p clips that are 60p'd and 1.5x longer than before.
and usually i will change all the filenames to have 60p in them so mark a difference.

enjoy.

edit, changed to copy clips and not move clips. so that way you have overcranked and non overcranked clips.

just edited my post to copy clips to 60p folder instead of move them. sorry about that.

See, Manglers not here however he's still helping.
Have not yet tried this myself

Brian,

Thank you for the fast reply, appreciate it.

The only part I still don't get is can I shoot 720P60 at 60fps in Film or Video mode?

Does this option exist in 720P60 at 60fps and what would be the outcome.

If I shoot in Video mode is it the live look and Film the film look?

Or am I limited to just Video mode in 720P60 at 60fps?

I remember a post Berry made and I found a year ago about 720P60 at 60fps being as smooth as glass for action, but what mode was it film or video.

Again any help would be apprediated.

:dankk2:Thanks in advance.

What shutter speed are you using? I've found with birds you get blurry motion unless
you up the shutter speed to at least 1/100, preferably 1/500.

Fred,

Thanks for you reply.

My test was at 250 and 500, I think I have that part down its the mode thing the is just got me confused.
