HVX Q's.....

So I'm leaving the dvx 100b world and getting two Hvx200's to get my production company going. I have a couple of questions.

What is a good 35mm adapter to use with these cams?

Can you shoot 16:9 in SD or just in HD?

What is a good case for this camera for carrying on flight?

Thanks a lot.

35mm adapter -- read up. I have the redrock M2 and can't complain. Just prepare for a lot of learning and tuning. As far as I can tell, none of these are simple slap-on solutions and they all have limitations you have to learn to live with.

You can shoot 16:9 in SD. HOWEVER, its sharper than the DVX. Because the DVX letterboxes and stretches to get 16:9, whereas the HVX is reducing resolution from the 16:9 CCDs. Also, you can record in HD to the P2 card and then dub to miniDV tape, down-converting on the way - in the camera. So all the variable frame rates and other features are available to you from the camera in SD 16:9 format if you shoot in HD and then dub to SD. In any case, the squeeze clips work the same as squeeze on the DVX when you get them to your NLE.

I've used a rolling bag intended for laptops.

This Briggs and Riley is just large enough that by pulling the organizers out of it, I was able to fit the HVX with its sunshade in the interior compartment, and carry a 15-inch powerbook in the exterior.
