Canadian Pricing on basic camera: $7100 CAN MSRP + GST = $7597 CAN (Canadian Retailers are known to stick tight to the MSRP)

American Pricing on basic camera: $5399 US + $100 shipping = $5499 US
At current exchange rate, $5499 US = $6,327.97 CAD
$6327.97 CAD + GST = $6770.93 CAN

Add PST and the difference is even greater. I excluded it because I don't pay any in my province.

So I work out that $7597 - $6770.93 = $826.07 CAN difference in pricing. That's an extra P2 card and some batteries for the same price if you order from the US.

Please explain how you got the $150 difference in pricing.

I am looking at a price of $5995 on the US Panasonic site and I'm signed up to collect GST (quick method) so get all my GST refunded on larger purchases. I do admit I do have to pay PST if I buy within BC so you might add 7%. I would hope that I could wangle a much better deal though as we all do.

That 5995 price is the MSRP price, US dealers usually sell for alot less than that, around the $5500 mark.

Canadian dealers usually sell right at the MSRP price, which is much of the problem... I dont think any commercial/retail outlet nowadays actually sells at the MSRP.

Re: UPS shipping to Canada

If a US Supplier only ships via UPS and offers no alternative. You can act as your own broker and avoid the brokerage fee which can go as high as $100 or more on some items. Just have the shipper mark it " Recipient will act as broker" or something like that. Go to the local UPS office to pick up the documentation. Take it to Canada Customs and file a personal or company import form. Usually it takes around 30 minutes. In Vancouver/Richmond UPS and Customs are within walking distance near the airport.

yes i have done this before jleo.. out in Richmond. Pretty easy.. but enough of a time consuming process to make it a bit of a pain. I live downtown, so the drive alone is quite a pain.

That is why I have a mailbox in blaine.

Well good news everyone.. I just went into Leos and had a really good talk with them. They promised me they would do thier best to shake things up a bit.. and get everyone here incredible pricing on HVX orders in Canada.. it's about time.

Thats correct.. good company, and they are very commited to making it worth Canadians not needing to go South.

Ask for David.

Jarred: Do you know any rep/reseller in Canada who's receiving the first shipment? That is, a waiting list and possible to deliver early Jan?
