HVX now or wait

What about the AUTO focus (and I do not mean focus assist), does it not work good enough and is manual focus the way to go with HD???

I have wondered about this myself and posted a thread on it but so far no answer. I was also wondering about how useful the image stablization is, but again no answers so far. Barry, anyone?

Auto focus works OK but most filmakers want to make those decisions for themselves.
OIS seems to be better than the DVX, not sure how much though.

RENT can be two words. It just depends on what syllable you put the emphasis on. :)

I've got two words for you Rush..." we're is my camera man I'm like 6000 on the list and I fear that I will never get it.......never mind I need to practice more with my DVX so I'm going to sit back and wait until they come in even if it's two years from now and I have to sit and day dream of HVX's for years to come and my wife leaves me for my constant bitching and complaining about how my equipment doesn't match my skill level but all along I know that a 10 year old handycam is over my head and I should just stop posting now and go to bed like most rational people in this over-populated world. "

:) :) Just couldn't help myself.

I'm hoarding them at Barry's place, remember. Jarred's helping us build that mega camera. Just ran out of glue sticks....

Wow 6000... That's like 2009...

thanks guys

i was talking about situations where i have NO lights available and had to rely on street lights or other natural installed nighttime lighting.

I think all of us have to remember that these cameras are just tools. Depending on our needs, some of us can get by with just the basics, while others need additional tools in order to perform a particular function.

That said, the reason that I'm going to purchase the HVX200 is that it's a perfect companion to my DVX100's. I have two anamorphic adapters for my 100's, but as you're aware, they are almost useless with regard to zooming in low light. Now by using the HVX200 that has a native 16x9 chip, I can use this as my main camera and zoom all the way in, and then use the two additional cameras with anamorphic adapters to cover the event from say Z30 and less in even pretty dark situations.

This is one of the beautys of having the 200 along side of your 100's. It's got a better lens and many more features. For me having at ability of shooting and editing in HD is just a bonus at this point. For right now, I'll be shooting 16x9 SD for the majority of my shoots.

my 2 cents,

eric
