HVX mount

It was a joke. I am sure it was to indirectly tell the college the tripod they have sucks and they need a better tripod, a LOT more of a professional one. That tripod looks like it was bought at the walmart. I feel sorry for people who pay for college and dont learn crap squat :) IMHO. (Oh WAIT I went to College)

You never learn from college, you just get access to free equipment so y ou can use it to your advantage and make films by which you learn :thumbsup: that and filming weddings with school equipment is teh win! Just have to cover up that "property of the university" sticker and you're good!
 
yeah, the tripod in that video was a still camera tripod. they were either taking a shot at their schools lack of correct gear OR they just had no idea what they were doing.

HOWEVER, the hvx has a totally flat bottom which DOES make attaching to some things - like various "steady" products or a fig rig a little more of a logistic hassle.
 
i tested a fig rig in the field yesterday and did 2 things:

1. rotated the tightening lever further down to give more travel
2. gaffertaped two nickels (one forward and one back) between the camera and qr plate

and all was well
 
Mine is a home made job but it works like a charm, put on a few modifications that help me, a weight on the bottom to steady the cam on the x axis and a bike grip on the handles so i don't drop the thing.
