Took out the new M2 for a spin FINALLY!

Still using a really lame video head, so steadyness is pretty much impossible with a 300mm lens..

goof stuff.

I was suprised just how much the noise on the low light shots looks like film grain.... yet another reason this cam is the un-crowned king @ under $10K
 
That's some awesome footage. Just beautiful.

I think you are getting a lot sharper focus than I am. Are you using the HD Achromat or the SD Achromat? Did you do anything to adjust the distance of the Cinescreen to the 35mm lens?

Justin... some great images in there. The sunset timelapse is killer. The guy falling over looked awesome. So, what has been your feelings on the m2 thus far? Are you also using a follow focus system? Matte Box? Monitor?

Sweet footage, love that Hvx. Makes me go out and get one ''O Yeh'' I dont have 5 G's
 
Where can I find a place to post footage?? Great stuff by the way...I just shot a music video with the M2 and my HVX
 
Good stuff. Looks like a fun day out with the cam. The guy being "shot" and then winking is classic. Anyway, great images.

Hey man, you stole my song. I used Coldplay's see you soon for my homemade 35mm adapter footage a while back. but your stuff looked really great, and i already love the song, so that is also good.

Yes andy, I am using the HD Achromat.. I also did adjust the cinescreen to acheive the perfect infinity on a PL mounted lens (different for a nikon, but you can still get a good focused image with nikons)..

A 1st AC friend of mine had these tools that measure the 10'000th of an inch, so we used those to adjust the distance under the collet to get the "almost" perfect infinity.. Going by eye is impossible! and will drive you nuts..

My focus is still not PERFECT, but having your zoom set to 74 and your focus around 15 seems to work well for me.. that seems to be the real factor.. try and start there and see where your focus lands (start by zooming to 74, then get crisp focus on the GG by moving the M2 till it's focused at 14 or 15)

The grain was there because I really upped the brightness in FCP, it was pretty dark out.. But it doesnt bother me.. :)

Justin thanks :) Always like to hear from you...

Love the M2 once it's tweaked to near perfection.. but it's not as easy as just taking it out of the box..

I have my camera, marshall monitor, the RedRock FF, and no matte box (yet)..
I'll post a pic soon..

my nikons are not "mine" :) they are from a friend that doesn't use them anymore!! But canon lenses are GREAT! and from what I've seen in your footage, you don't need them..

It was coldplay, "see you soon" I think?

Gotta be careful with the M2 without real ND filters.. when you stop down to a 16 with the NIKONS, and then crush the blacks in FCP, you can actually begin to see the spinning of the ground glass....

Thank you Dooser.. I just cant wait to get my hands on a head with some real drag!

Funds came with alot of credit, and I've been in the biz for 11 years (5 as a camera assistant) so i've saved my pennies.. :)

I totally agree. When messing with blow up of my own footage, i'm constantly amazed how much the noise I get ends up looking like film grain. Even when zooming in the images I find they look so much closer to film origionated stuff than anything in this price range. Personally, I wonder why this is the case. Do I just have Panasonic beer goggles on or is there really something about the way the HVX process the image that makes it's noise look more like film grain?
