HVX in Canada?

I am looking to make the jump from my DVX100A to the HVX200. I see all the wonderful deals on right now for the HVX in the US (free 8GB card and Barry's book). Is there any promo like this going on in Canada? If not, and I order a camera from someone like EVS can I still get the perks?

Thanks for your help! :)

i do this
The sucker is, you pay more in canada than its equivalent value in the US, but you get the american warranty, not valid in canada.

Yeah I know. I buy US all the time.

But my questions were more specifically:

1.) Does anyone know if this (or similar) special is also available in Canada?

2.) If it is not, would I still get the goodies if I went and ordered state side?

Thanks.

2. Call someone and ask.
Thanks. I had already thought of that. However, anyone hungry enough for a sale would likely tell you that you do get the stuff.

I was wondering if anyone from Canada had gone this route and actually received the promo being offered. Or maybe Jan could step in and answer this too?

Thanks.

The answer is absolutely not. You cannot get the 8 gig card as a Canadian, unless you buy the camera in the states, and have a US address (thus, you are a US customer) that they can send the card to. Again, your warranty is only US not Canada based. But, all that said, the price for the HVX200 recently dropped quite a bit (about 6000 Canadian now (5100 USD), and you can haggle, because they know the price difference over the border). My friend bought it at Henry's in Toronto I think, and got a really good deal on accessories for that reason. And you'll need accessories. Still, more expensive, but with the 8 gig cards (probably) going down in price soonish it's not that bad, and you have the piece of mind of being able to get it serviced in Canada.

It's for US residents, as I understand. Canadian residents are represented by Panasonic Canada; it would be rather rude for one division of Panasonic to cause disruption in another division's territory by handing out rebates to encourage that other division's customers to go gray-market.

So, it's a rebate for U.S. residents who buy U.S. authorized product from U.S. dealers.

I believe this Gilgamesh gentleman is referring to me, and yeah I just called up Henrys to see if the HVX was in stock and had no intention to haggle or get any breaks. The sales guy asked me to send him a list of everything I wanted (hvx, camera, bags for both), and he sent back a quote with a decent chunk of dough off the whole package. I got a few hundred bucks off the total plus a free extended 3 year warranty (which is about $650).

I can't say for sure if you'd get as good a deal or any deal, but since it was just sprung on me when I called I doubt I was a special case. I think they were counting on repeat business from me, and since I also got a few bucks off my P2 card there months later, I'll definately be going back when I need more.
