Hi, i was wondering if there is any sort of "image manipulator" software for your computer that could save personalized settings and styles, and then plug them into the hvx's settings.

Is there such a thing as this out there?

That is what the sd card is for. saving settings and loading them to the camera, any windows software like word pad will work!
 
A member here was once working on a programs that did something similar. Basically I think it was a GUI front end that just spat out .txt files for your SD card.
 
actually what i think i'm looking for lies in the scene files. and how to customize them. i'm looking into buying an hvx and want to get an idea how to control things like the Knee, Gamma Curve, Detail Coring, Syncro Scan, Chroma Level, and Phase options in detail.

can this all be done in the camera? or is software needed? and how do i do it?

It's all done in-camera, and can be shared between cameras via the SD card.

As for how the settings work in detail, there's lots of info here, in the HVX Book, and in the HVX BootCamp DVDs.
