AND I just copied and pasted a few clips form one timeline into another and it changed the sequence settings in the one I pasted in and stretched it out so it's way too wide... fcp meltdown.
So everything looked great in the lcd, smooth and good. Now I'm brining it into fcp and it's really jittery and stroby, it looks like 24p but without the "film feel". When I look at the clips in the viewer, the settings read: Frame Size: 960 x 720, Vid Rate: 23.98 fps, Compressor: DVCPRO HD 720p60, Data Rate: 5.9 MB/sec, Pixel Aspect: HD (960x720)
Hey,
Okay I set the "shutter" button to "off" in 720p/60 mode. I have since used the p2 content management software to verify that the clips are all 59.94. I called apple and they said that FCP 5 may have switchced the clips to 23.98 when I imported them in the p2 window because FCP 5 may not be able to handle 720p/60 (?!?!) This makes no sense to me, but I went back to the P23 content software, ingested the clips (so it made duplicates) and imported THOSE mxf's and it recognizes them as 59.94 but says they are not optimized for fcp and it will only allow me to bring in video and not sound. I was told by someone at Panasonic that I should buy transcoding software to change the mxf's into something FCP recognizes? But I'm so confused as to why I have to go through all this extra work for the most basic of default settings?
The client needed to see roughs today so I just edited it all in the wrong timeline with the improperly imported 23.98 clips so I could show them SOMETHING but now I need to figure out how to get the raw clips into something FCP 5 will recognize and work with properly, it doesn't seem like this should be so hard. Am I missing something obvious and basic?
