HVX editing setup

Heres the deal.
I've just finished shooting my last project on my xl1 ( loved that thing to death)

I am now ready for HD!!!! and especially ready for 24P
I use a PowerMac G5 (non intel 4gb ram 2gb procecesor) and a 23' cinema display In the past i have only used a straight firewire connection. I use the latest FCP
Im going to purchase the HVX and P2 cards because of my last production i have the budget to go big and hit the next level. I have seen my friends work on there dvx's and am obsessed with the quality i was missing on my xl1. and ive seen all your beautiful posts from your hvx's.

1. I want to know what is necessary in order to get production going in Full HD quality. do i need a aja or kona card or do you just import with the p2 reader. I plan on getting an HD monitor so i can view the project. do you need a kna card to export and view the HD. Which one is effective.

2. What is the PRIME setup for the HVX. i.e monitor, card, raid server etc
Sorry for being new to the fo.rum and asking these questions but any help would be greatly appreciated

I've been editing HVX footage on an AMD 4400+ Dual Core... 2 gigs of RAM, 3 terabytes of hd space (which is probably overkill). I'm sure it's not the Prime setup, but it works pretty decently.

I edited DVCProHD 720/24pN on a MacBook in FCP 5.1.4. Used a USB bus powered external to edit off of.

You don't need a RAID server.

My suggestion is a MacPro with a X1900, FCS2, and a couple of 500 KB SATA internals.

for a computer this works fine.

I would recommend a HD-SDI card or a card with analouge and SDI in/out.
For monitoring get the panny 17" broadcast lcd or better yet, the 26". It's not as portable as the 17" but damn I love to edit with it.

Get a SATA 2 RAID. You really want speed and redundency on a important project.
(paid or not) You can use firewire of USB but nothing compares to a real raid!
