HVX direct capture to macbook?

Does anyone know if there is any way of direct capturing from the HVX to a macbook in 720 25p mode (PAL)? I couldn't find this info anywhere....

To put this in context, I'm shooting a doc, and have been shooting in 720 25pn mode, recording to P2. I am now shooting some interviews, and don't want to keep pausing to download P2 footage (I don't have lots of cards or a firestore).

I have had no problems capturing 1080 25p footage directly into FCP 5.1.2 using the instructions provided in the forums. But there is no 720 25fps capture preset in FCP - just 24p and 30p. Is it possible to get around this? Has anyone in PAL land managed to capture 720 25p footage directly to FCP, or do I have to capture at 1080?

maybe Scopebox will work?

I haven't tested it but you can download a Demo

From the website:

Does ScopeBox support the Panasonic HVX200?
ScopeBox supports the HVX line although you need to have FinalCut Pro installed since it relies on bundled QuickTime components.
ScopeBox does not currently strip unnecessary frames. This can be done after recording with ScopeBox. We should have this fixed in a minor update in the near future.

Not sure if this means it can capture 720p or not......

Would it be possible to create a custom capture preset for this purpose? You might want to post your question in the FCP forum to get input from BenB or other FCP gurus there.

Scopebox works with the MacBook.

I beta tested it, and captured it without incident. You need to the DVCProHD codec installed, and I prefer 2 Gbs of RAM, and a faster 7200 rpm internal drive.

I'm a bit relctant to use scopebox - mainly becuase I like to simplify my workflow - I'm working to a tight delivery deadline. And more to the point, I imagine it costs money and I have already run so much kit through the budget that I can't pay for anything else!

I have found that I can capture 1080 for a reasonable period of time without glitches straight to FCP, but I really want to avoid mixing resolutions on the project.

Thanks all for the help - I'll post on the FCP side of the forum and see if anyone can elaborate on kwoff's suggestion. I was thinking I could modify a preset too...
