HVX Connected to a MX50/30

What is the best way to connect the HVX200 to an external switcher. Can I get rid of the display settings that seem to be mirrored in the view finder.

also it may be my imagination but the video that is aquired on P2 looks twice as good when the camera is put into mcr mode?

It is as if the composite and Svhs output are purposely down res'd

Composite and S-video (not S-VHS! that's a tape format!) are SD only formats .. so HD will always be downconverted when outptu through the COmposite & S-video ports.

Component can be either HD or SD (setting in the menu).

Yes you can turn off the On Screen Displays in the HVX. (I can't recall how off the top of my head).

Best way to connect to a MX-50 or -30 is in deed with the composite or S-video connection. If you are going over about 15 feet, then use the Composite, it'll normally hold up better over longer runs.

We did notice on a shoot recently that we experienced a cleaner signal from composite BNC on 100 ft runs verses less sharp signals from s-vhs. Also if you turn off the viewfinder display settings i guess we have no way to prevent lossing them in the view finder. i guess what i am asking is their separate controls for them or will i lose the camera settings in the view finder all together?

Yes, you can turn off the OSD from the outputs only, from the "Display Setup" menu under "Video out OSD".
Check page 113 of your manual for details.
