HVX as LIVE to switcher camera? HD

Trying to work this situation out for a friend on the other coast...

He's got two HDVs and a digital switcher and some big digital projection for the live shows.

Would there be a way (like to the firestores) to send HD out via FW to a switcher so it could be fed?

I think he 'tried' and couldn't do it... but I know he doesn't know those cameras very well.

Thanks,

I don't think there is a live HD Firewire switcher yet. .. There are various video mixers that use Firewire, but only as DV to my knowledge.

Firewire really isn't very good for multicamera signals anyway. - Short cables and major delay/sync issues.

It's a job for HD-Component, and better still, HD-SDI.

When using the HVX, he will of course need a switcher that has an internal frame-sync. .. but if he's allready using HDV cameras, then he has this.

How is he using/connecting the HDV cameras?

Great questions. Thanks. I'll forward.

Would there be a way to get HD signal out of the HVX? Does (sorry) it have SDI out??

Thanks,

No SDI out .. Only Firewire (which isn't a good option) and HD-Component.

If it's a long run (into a HD-SDI mixer), or the mixer only takes HD-SDI, then one of these puppies is just the ticket!
