hvx as a deck

Hello all, I.ve tried searching and have found the answer to get my HVX to act as a deck - put it into VTR and then push the thumbnails button when connected via firewire to Final Cut Pro...but it.s not working for me? I.m not sure why? Any help? Some setting I.m missing?

Are you referring to a tape deck, or P2 deck? If you are recording to P2 media, you must install the P2 drivers, put the camera into MCR mode, and then hold down the MODE button for another three seconds to allow the camera to be recognized. Also make sure the camera isn't configured for USB mode.

Oh sorry for not clarifying, I meant as a tape deck so I can monitor playback on an SD monitor...I actually got it to work eventually, but it cropped my image to 4:3 [on the camera lcd it displayed at 16:9, but on the television it was cropped.] The option to change the aspect ratio was blue...I don.t know how to change this?
