Sorry to bring it back but, is the camera shooting 1080p?
Because on the adverting they just mention: "720p/1080i/480i multivideo formats with 24p/30p capability" cfr moviemaker dec. 2005. Am I missing something

Hey Luis, see what I mean?

Yes, it absolutely definitely unquestionably without a doubt DOES shoot 1080/24p and 1080/30p. I've been doing it for the last month, I can guarantee you it most definitely does.

Yeah, sorry Schmovies, it was just impeccable timing. I'd made that other post five seconds before, then pop in this thread and see the exact same question... :)

My attempt to end the confusion: The camera only RECORDS 720p, 1080i, and 480i just as the DVX only RECORDS 480i. But it can capture 1080p24 and encode it as 1080i60 just as the DVX encodes 480p24 as 480i60.

Nice as always! A good example!

Encodes is probably not the right word; "embeds" would probably be the better word.

24P is carried within a 60i data stream, because the codec only records 60i. The 24p data is embedded losslessly within that 60i data stream, and can easily be reconstructed losslessly back to its original 24p state.

In 720p mode it's not an issue; 720p can natively record progressive, so 24p works fine.
