HVX 202 Workflow Issues

Hi People,
I have shot my short on Panasonic HVX 202 in DVC Pro HD but I'm finding the post pathway not as straightforward as I had planned/expected. I edited on AVID and it may be my imagination but does the raw footage change in quality from hard drive in the import into AVID? Also, what has anyone else found to be the best post workflow for this format?

I use Edius Broadcast 4, it's amazing with the p2 format and supports the PAL format too. I use it to capture straight to the computer a bit which is very handy.
