HVX 200 Pictures

I sure hope panny didn't screw us on a Remote focus port. Does anyone know if it has pre-set-able focus points and a couple of buttons to toggle between them?

This camera really is looking like the real deal.

What do you mean, John ? That you think it looks great ? Or that the mockup looks very much like the final model will ?

In the latter case, I agree with you. Obtaining final corporate approval on the design of such an important new product is a long and involved process, and it's not going to change now.

The photos and press release quote are direct copies from the Camcorderinfo.com article on the AG-HVX200. These photos and quotes are copyrights of Camcorderinfo.com and should be removed immediately.

My point is that without the pro lens of the JVC and the P2 HD option. It's really a just 6,000 out of the box DV camera. Just a thought.

Yeah, I must not have been looking hard enough for the teeth. I found them though, I had to run the image through a... uhm.... polarizer. :-p

OMG That is so cool!

Splendid work ! Make sure you specify you own the copyright to *that* picture ! ;o)))

P.S. how in the world can a press release be copyrighted by anyone except the issuer ?

Exactly what I mean; I don't forsee too many asthetic changes in the future. One day; they'll get the Mold right.

Yes; that really is just a thought.

Next!

Does anybody know how the 1080p resolution is achieved since the chips aren't that rez? (IIRC).

Also, won't the mini-35 adpater deal be a good substitute for the non-interchangeable lens? It'd be nice if they had constructed the HVX-200 with interchangeable lenses, but with the adapter that'll probably be released I don't see what the big problem is....

Does any one remember Jan saying the DVX100b would be a different color? Maybe this color scheme is the new Panasonic thing....

You know what....the more I look at the pictures....the more I am coming around to it. Seriously. Maybe it won't be *sooooo* bad. Just keep looking at the *snorks* picture and you'll see what I mean.

The pictures posted by 10s to start this thread were not Panasonic press release photos. They were pictures taken by Camcorderinfo.com staff at the press conference and are proprietary to Camcorderinfo.com. In addition, the quote on the press release was copied exactly from at post I made on the Camcorderinfo.com HVX200 forum board. There's enough legimate information available now to the press that copying info from another site is not necessary. If you want to link to our article, that is one thing. But, to copy and post the information as if it is yours is stealing and a violation of copyright. I think that DVXUser.com is above that kind of behavior.

I thought my DVX100A was a little chubby when I first got it . . . still do (but that has never interfered with the look of the output).
I like the continuity of style & control placement on this new camera.
I guess if I wanted a camera to make myself look cool I could find plenty of XL-1's (or other choices with fewer features that I really want) on eBay.
The new car models rarely appeal to me when they first come out, but most grow on me in time (someone said keep looking at the pictures...).
The notion that anyone serious enough to spend this kind of money passing on the features because of the styling is ridiculous (IMHO).
Paint it purple if you want, I'm in!
Between now and Q4 I will continue to work on my craft--I don't anticipate parting company with my DVX. (Hopefully Barry will get a jump start on his next book).
Less than 6K, features out the wazoo . . . HOLY SMOKE!!!

Panny, you've done it again -- got it right the first time out -- instant classic.
I would buy this camera if it looked like this: http://www.lrrp.com/hvx/hvx200.gif
(could not figure out how to post the pic here).

I agree with you on the photos, but I disagree about the press release. According to your post, you didn't write the press release, so you don't own the copyright to it. (In fact, unless Panasonic explicitly gave you permission to post it, you technically have violated the copyright on the press release.)

Now, if you are saying that 10s *morally* should have linked to your post (as opposed to legally), then you might have an argument. But as I read your two posts, you are claiming copyright to content you didn't create. I might be misunderstanding something here, but I don't see how that is possible.

i am astounded by the inclusion of variable frame rates at 720p. which has me thinking... i wonder if in-camera speed ramps will be possible. that would just be mind-blowing. i guess it depends if the frame rate can be changed in single frame increments instead of having preset rates (like 4, 12, 24, 48, 60). fingers are crossed. also, how does this affect the recording of audio? will its speed be sync'd to the frame rate, stay at normal speed, or will a change in frame rate result in MOS footage?

The audio sample rate is independent of the video frame rate. Let's say you're capturing audio samples 48,000 times per second. If the camera happened to record 60 frames in that second or 24 frames, you'll end up with 800 samples/frame @ 60p or 2,000 audio samples/frame @ 24p. But each audio sample is still an approximation of the exact same amount of time. It's when you change your playback speed/fps that the audio characteristics change accordingly.
