HVX 200 Pictures

I'm disappointed by the looks as well...

I've located the user-defined buttons but I'm scared by the apparent lack of any markings whatsoever on the zoom and focus rings...

???
 
It's a prototype camera. I think we can be reasonably sure that the build quality and markings are going to be at least as good as the DVX.
 
That grey will have to go.
It looks pretty thick too but that could just be the camera angle, It kind of reminds me of a Hasselblad from the rear.

We all know the specs to date, and we all pinched ourselves to find out if we were dreaming. One should never judge a book by it's cover. However, Pany should have put a few more dollars on the design. I'm not saying I won't buy it. Far from it; I'll probably be the first in line for one. I'm just saying that the look is a bit dissapointing. The DVX looked better. The way it llooks now is kind of fisher pricey

Hasn't it already been given away in the press release ? I.e., when shooting 16:9 the image will appear letterboxed in the viewfinder and the technical info (or most of it anyway) will be displayed within the letterbox areas so as to avoid cluttering the image ?

I hope you're right, Barry. That thing does definitely look like a mockup. The buttons above the audio section aren't even properly aligned horizontally.

This camera looks dog ugly. At least we know JVC have better designers. The HD100 is a beauty. Looks way more professional and ergonomic than the new panna fisher price :D

I hope panna change the look of it.
 
That's a different angle....or a totally different camera from the fisher-price mockup. That actually looks *half-assed*....:)

I dunno. I think the JVC HD100 looks like a camel. The XL2 looks like a dinosaur, and the HDX200 looks kind of like a fat goldfish. I think I can live without the camel and dinosaur factor, but if they somehow turn it into a velociraptor in the next six months I won't complain either.
 
Mockup or not, the overall shape will, I guess, not change much. I'm definitely not sold on the whole roundy/curvy look. It has sort of a toy-like feeling, as opposed to the JVC's rugged sort of ugliness that does make it look like a professional tool with no "let's get cute" compromise...

OK, I'm gonna be mean, but that looks like something the Sony designers could have thought of...
 
Well let's put this into *real life* terms. The camera does look a little *dorky* like the nerds we went to high school with....or the nerds we *were* in high school. Everyone laughed and poked fun at the nerds / us....but the nerds grew up to be the smart money making leaders of tomorrow who set the trends.

I guess my point is...even though the camera isn't as polished and sexy as the DVX100, it will still kick just about any other camera's ass....ON PAPER....and hopefully in reality, when they are delivered.

I can deal with a little curves and bubblish looks here and there....but I can't deal with spending 6K and having shitty pictures. Pictures = 1st, Looks = 2nd. My .03 cents.

Admittedly; I wish there was our dream camera in a look and fashion that screamed "Cool as hell". but really now. Who gives a flying **** what it looks like? What does it deliver?

Yeah, they should put horns on the front of it like a bull, mount a 8 cylinder engine to the side and maybe a gun rack that attaches to the back.
