HVX 200 needs a nickname.

May sound silly, but I seriously think this camera will get even better acceptance if it has a good nickname (like "Varicam Jr." or something?).

"HVX-200" just doesn't stand out from the crowd. Any suggestions??

It was much easier for (non gearhead) producers to have the "Varicam" settle into their consciousness than the AJ-HDC27H (bla bla bla). Probably should be short and sweet.

Lets come up with something.

Someone on the board defined it as "The Swiss Army Knife". Thought that was cool.
 
How about the "Napoleon Dynamo",which could later evolve to simply "The Nappy Cam" after widespread adoption and ebonics processing?! LOL

other, more semi-serious nicks could be:

"HaViX" - because it sounds so militant.
"NoDoz HD" for the effects it has on its new-found owners

but really, name another cam that has a nickname... exactly... reputation and word of mouth will carry the HVX-200 tune to Producer's ears, and if the producer has not heard of the great HVX-200 by now... well... word of mouth will have to carry it to his ears, if you get the drift.

As for other cams with nicknames...there's the Viper and of course, Red.

I suggest "hivvix" if you must call it something besides aitch-vee-ex-two-hunnert, or "Gigagulper" if you want functional description.

I spoke with one of the musicians at the Merle Fest. He said his brother a Varicam guys, called it the 1/2 Cam.

Panasonic calls her "Big Betty", not that german video magazine that mentions this nickname nor is it "Fat Bertha".... But I don't know whether it's only Panasonic in Europe or Germany or over the whole planet where they call the HVX "Big Betty".
