HVX-200 & MAC

There's seems to be more than a few post popping up questioning the HVX's compatibilty with transfering the HD footage into a NLE program like Final Cut Pro.
I find it hard to believe that Apple wont support the HVX seeing as how they have a strong relationship with Panasonic.
Also the HVX was introduced at NAB apple shindig.
The following is from a final cut pro page on apples web site.
"New support for Panasonic P2 tapeless, solid-state media storage devices means high-speed ingest: Copy the files you need and start cutting. Final Cut Pro 5 also lets you view and browse P2 devices on the Macintosh. Panasonic P2 supports DVCPRO, DVCPRO 50 and DVCPRO HD."
Does anyone have a definate answer as to whether the HVX will be supported on Mac.

Hi,

Apple shot some footage with the HVX, imported it into a MAC and was editing the footage at IBC. To me that is a pretty definitive answer.

How did they import it? That is the only question I can't seem to get answered. PCMCIA to laptop. OK. But how about to a G5 box. I know the AJ-PCS060 is only Windows 2000 and Windows XP operating systems. This is friendly fire. I have two HVX200's on order.

When I asked them about this, they pointed to a P2 card in the P2 drive sat on the table next to the G5.

If I'm correct, which I think I am because I've been keeping up on this awesome camera, if you plug the camera in through firewire, it will read the camera as a P2 drive, thus reads the P2 cards immediately. Pretty easy if you ask me.

Supposedly, you will be able to insert P2 cards into your powerbook's PCMCIA slot and download your footage. This is not yet possible, but according to Barry, this compatability will be imminent. :embarasse

At IBC, apple used the AJ-PCD10 to get the two P2 cards connected. In the interface of FCP 5.0, you can then import-->panasonicP2, and scan for any P2 cards connected. Pretty snazzy!
