HVRZ1U film looks

Thanks for the feedback. Honestly, I don't even know how to ask the question, but what I meant was pretty much what you said. It comes down to a wide screen presentation that has the "hollywood" look to it, which would have to do with aspect ratio. The 70mm thing was just thrown out there because my employer asked if it was possible. I didn't think so either. I think the better question would be: How do I achieve a "hollywood" film look for commercials and nature footage with this camera? I know it will only be a simulation, but my employer wants that "look" for the commercials and for other projects. What hardware/software would best suit this project? I would say shoot in 60i HDV with a 35mm adaptor using some wide zeiss lenses, capture it with, say Avid Express HD, add some filter effects with Magic Bullet, then output it as 24p. Anyone agree or have a different suggestion? I'll be here all week.

Thanks.

If you are not doing a transfer to film I would Shoot in Cineframe25 mode with a lens adapter like the M2 or G35.

If you want 2:35 framing you would have to crop the top and bottom of the 16x9 frame. You can achieve this by taping off the monitor to achieve proper framing. Or get an overlay from Aspect Correct: http://www.aspectcorrect.com/

Also if you do shoot in Cineframe mode you may want to take a look at Cineforms Aspect HD software. It does a nice conversion of Cineframe25 to actual 24p.

As I stated before, take a look at what macgregor is doing with Cineframe25 and a Guerilla35 adapter:

Pretty good looking "hollywood" film look type stuff if you ask me.

macgregor,

You have got to be one good looking mofo to get those beautiful women to pose naked for your vids. Either that or you possess some serious pimp juice

I usually just lie to them...whats your secret.

As always though, beautiful footage to match your beautiful subjects.

Coffe you PM folder is full, and i cannot reply you there.

Anyway here is the answer.

The videoclub filming is done, now i need a powerfill PC to edit it. I think i would need around 750 Gb of space, which i don´t have. So it will have to wait some time to be edited i think.

ok, PM box emptied out now.. .lol thanks man

Damn that sucks,,,,, I really liked what you showed us a while back and can't wait to see what it all looks like when you're done with it. You really capture excellent images my friend. Is it mostly HD? Can you show me something that you did on the DVX?

macgregor - I checked out your videos, they are breathtaking. Not just the quality of the picture but the composition, etc.

Was 'slippery when wet' and 'secret garden' shot with the Sony Z1U and 35mm adapter? It sounded like so from the thread, but I wanted to be sure.

So, if I am not transferring to film, I should shoot Cineframe25 then capture to 24p? I will be purchasing either the G35 or Micro35 and using Nikon or zeiss lenses. How does Vegas 6 handle all of this stuff? I keep hearing about the cineform stuff but I will not be working with Premiere. Does it matter? Should I not shoot 60i then transfer with Vegas? Avid Xpress HD? The stuff on McGregor's site is pretty much what I'm looking for, but can I do it with Vegas 6 or Avid Xpress?

I only work with Vegas. No problems at all.

Actually they were shot with a FX1E and the Guerilla35. FX1E is the european camera version.

Thanks!

Did you do a lot in post? The colors are beautiful, and you can see every dimple on her, uh.... nose.

Hi all,

I had a go at Edius Pro 3 for editing. and I must I'm absolutly amazed... it capture HDV and DV(of course) on the same timeline you can use HD footage, HDV, DV and the all thing is playing everything realtime even with color correction, and effect. I play realtime 3 Video track color corrected with effect and and doesn't seem to bother my machine at all. they have a similar compression system as cineform call canopus HQ but it's integrated in the software. you also have mirroe effect that become handy to revert the image when you shoot with a 35 mm adapter like the SG35 or the G35...(by the the SG35 looks promising and for £200($350) and includes rods) anyway try edius, it a brillant software.I stopped using premiere since... and unless someone find someting really wrong with it I think that's the way to go to edit HDV realtime....
www.canopus.com and you also get a full version 30 day trial...

Oh I must Add about edius, I just created DV project but it still allow to import or caputre HDV file either canopus HQ compression or m2t and I can either render the project in DV or HD if I want ith loss on HD because I used HDV file in my DV project... How cool is that... that means for all us we can do all the edit, and you need the burn a DVD of your movie it's as simple as printing to file for Film printing... Just Brilliant...
they is still one or 2 things missing like multiple bin but hey for the price and the quality if the software it's a no brainer... I'm not from canopus so not trying to sale anything but like I've been spending hours waiting for rendering and finding the best workflow... now I have find it...
