HV20 to DVX100b upgrade?

should I upgrade from my Canon Hv20 to a DVX100b

I am starting high school next year and want to get involved in the filmmaking department, i also might go to a filmmaking high school, should i upgrade?

I am saving up for a macbook right now, and am getting final cut studio and adobe suite cs3 for free.

but if i were to get a dvx, then i would have to start savin up all over again, but i am fine with that
 
If you want to really get into filmmaking, the manual controls on the DVX are going to be a nice upgrade. By going manual, you get a greater understanding of the entire process and how you can manipulate it to get the effect you want.

That being said, if you don't have a way to edit your footage right now, I'd get that taken care of first.

By october 14th the new macbooks should come out, and i'll get one then, and that will be taken care of by atleast halloween. AFter that ill have a good 11 months to save up
 
in the coming months you will be able to get a dvx100b for cheap...er then new. Alot of people are upgrading gear and selling their dvx's in the process. Keep watching the marketplace. And yes I would prefer a dvx over and hv20 any day.

It easy to spend money, harder to learn technique.

Save your money and shoot with the HV20 - shoot a lot. You might pick up a cheap 35mm adapter and a couple of inexpensive 35mm lenses.

Learning craft shouldn't break the bank. You're not going to sell anything, just make some movies for your entertainment and development, so the cheaper, the better.

The more you know, the more you grow.

Then you can figure out what you really need.

how did you get this news? was it from apple? i think this is just rumor.
