In keeping with the sarcasm of this thread:

You're right, how dare Panasonic hype their product! We were lied to the whole time, a viable NL video camera for under $10,000, good HD picture for a 1/3" camera, multiple framerates, DVCPRO-HD codec, support from several NLE's upon camera release... all these damnable lies!!!! Can't we have Jan thrown in jail for making all these false promises?

Thank god the other low cost HD cameras are 100% forward about their camera's weak points and don't hype their strong points. Are we suppose to listen with a critical ear to what a company tells us about it's product?

I am waiting for my camera like many of you are. I have recently been shooting some stuff with my old original XL1 (Drum Circles in surround sound..now that IS funny) I looked at it last night and was so enthralled with the images of people having fun, that I forgot about how AWFUL the original version of this camera was said to be by so many people back then (soft focus in particular). I just know that when I get the HVX I will find some great images to make me forget just how noisy and inferior those 1/3" CCDs are purported to be. Did I mention that in 5 years of owning my XL1 I have NEVER used another lens (Except for a Century .6 wide angle bayonet mount) ...so much for the interchangable lenses. I think someone interesting jumped in front of the camera at one point and I guess I just forgot how much I needed a different lens.

I know - it's as IF she had said NOVEMBER and the picture quality would actually be "BETTER". Hahahaha. Whew... I'm going to cruise on down to the store and grab a camera now... there should be plenty in stock.
