Humming EX1r

Hi,

I get an annoying amount of hum from the headphone circuit of my EX1r. It happens when the camera is switched on and is not related to whether there is a microphone plugged in or not, nor to monitor or recording levels.

I use Sennheiser HD25 headphones which have an impedance of 70 ohms but the problem is still there with some Beyerdynamic DT250s.

I would appreciate any other EX1r owners reporting on whether they experience the same thing before I send the camera back to Sony. Alternatively, do I need to use headphones with a different impedance (this seems unlikely because the Sennheisers work well at sensible monitor levels)?

Cheers,
Jonathan

Sorry to say, you must have something wrong with the audio circuitry. Mine is quite clean and does a great job with audio.
I suppose it's not interference from something in the room?

Simply play back audio on different system, if it's not there. It's just the noise from the headphone amplifier in camera.

Yes, it's not there when I play back clips on the computer. I just wanted to check if it was standard with the EX1r headphone circuit or whether there was a problem with my machine in particular.
