[FS: General] HUGE (but really really smoothe) Studio Dolly

For Sale is this monster heavy, but rediculously smoothe dolly... it is from the early days of TV, and it steers with either one or three wheels.
One wheel tracks camera angle to center as camera circles and Three wheel steering fixes camera angle no matter where the dolly goes.
It rolls really really well and has cable guards on the wheels. I live just outside New Orleans, so the shipping is not really an option.
Let me know if you're interested... I may just cut the bottom off and make it a bit more portable.

Sorry... OK... I've been seeing them on Ebay for around $1,400.00 so let't start with that as an opener.

fwiw... That isn't a dolly; its a camera pedestal made for big-lens studio camera configurations. These are still very much in use. Good luck with your sale.

I guess I call it that 'cause that's what it has become... I originally bought it for a museum installation I designed where we recreated a news set to house the State's film & video collection based largely (at that time) on Brooks Read (a newsman). There was a mock "switcher" where the visitor could push buttons to access clips from two laserdisks (remember them?). The video played in the switcher monitors and also fed into a giant video camera about the size of a large ice chest. When the exhibit was dismantled, although the camera was of no use, I couldn't bear to leave the base in mothball... it is overkill for the AF, but it's mass makes it move really nicely as far as ramping up and down on a move. If it doesn't sell, I'm planning on cutting just the base and rigging some sort of steering control... as it is now, I can't load it by myself. even the wheel/base will be a handful, but it is truly elegant as far as its motion.
