Hpx300 rumors

I suppose it fits a little awkwardly in between those two you mention tomas, i mean avc intra seems like panny is naturally integrating its better codec with its obviously more recent cam model probably to take advantage better of its full res (er yeah guys?)
I think this is accurate. The HPX170's chips don't deliver truly enough ooomph to saturate the 1920x1080 frame, but the CMOS chips do, so AVC-Intra makes more sense on this product.

Some EX users are probably bemoaning the irony of this and i dont blame them. However, this camera has been made to compete with the EX, and others... It may not be for everyone for this reason - but its appeal to those who do wish to chase res at all costs -
Yep. Those who want and need those pixels, now can have them. And truthfully the image is sharper and cleaner/smoother than the 170/200A.

and within what appears to be a cute (and genuine shoulder setup as opposed to ex3) will be appealing.
There's nothing "cute" about it, it's not like an HD100 or something. This is a real, full-size, broadcast shoulder mount camera. The casual observer wouldn't be able to tell the difference between an HPX300 and an F900. It's full size, fully ergonomic, exactly what you'd want in a broadcast unit.

- I know this is an impossible question lol, but what about mini 35 adapter solutions for the hpx300 - how would that er in theory work? // Oops just saw your post there Kholi, so theres a cute 1/3 relay that you could just clunk onto the hpx300 possibly? That would be neat!
Yeah, it could be a fairly ideal adapter rig, in that if you had the 1/3 relay you could mount the adapter directly, and the scan reverse function eliminates all upside-down issues.

''it's EX1 sharpness combined with Panasonic color.'' this is the word i was waiting for, too good to be true:))

What irony ? The only irony is how Panasonic based its campaign on "CMOS/Sony is jello vision". Now look who is jigglin'.
ALL CMOS cameras jiggle. Can't get around it.

Look, these companies chase each other in circles all the time. JVC said "only native chips count", and now they're using 960x540. I remember a few years ago when Sony's lineup was the PD150, PD170, DSR200, DSR300, and DSR500. Now Panasonic has an HMC150, HPX170, HVX200, HPX300 and HPX500.

Sony says CMOS is glorious, Panasonic says it sucks, eventually the market says they can stomach CMOS, so Panasonic gives 'em CMOS too. Sony says long-GOP is glorious, Panasonic says it sucks, the market shows that they can stomach long-GOP, so Panasonic gives 'em AVC-HD. They will make what they think is best, but if people want some particular product or other, they'll make that too.

I'm sure if Sony had fallen flat on their face with the EX1, then you'd never have seen Panasonic Broadcast going with CMOS. But since people seem to want it, they have to supply it. But instead of just me-too'ing, they put it in a real body, with AVC-Intra.

Watching the Abelcine review of the camera, he says the Firewire port doesn't stream AVC-I. Does that mean live shooting, or from the P2 card?
AVC-I doesn't stream. Neither does AVC-HD or XDCAM-EX or XDCAM-HD. Only DV, HDV, and DVCPRO(25/50/HD) stream.

Firewire port is for streaming DVCPRO-HD.

Oh, and i saw that statement you made there: "Sharper" than the HPX500?

O boy. This thing might just fill the void between the HPX170's lack-luster (that's me) image and the EX-3's. Oh no...
Yes, sharper than the HPX500. It looks like an EX3 but with Panasonic color/mojo instead of the "sony" look.

Any word on the ASA in 720p and 1080p at -3 gain?
Its ISO is about 500 across the board, it doesn't change like the EX1 does. The EX1 is about 500 in 720p mode, 400 in 1080p mode, 800 in 1080i mode.

-3dB costs you half a stop, so it drops to 320.

But that's based on the PROTOTYPE, folks. Who knows what the final shipping product will be like? It may be the same, it may change. Just keep repeating these words: prototype, prototype, prototype. :)

It works wonderfully. If you have enough light that you can afford to give up 1/2 stop of sensitivity, it zaps noise. We've been clamoring for this for years, and the 300 finally offers it.

The funny thing about your statement is that it's not an exaggeration. LOL. I remember when the A1 dropped the -Gain on us and I was like... "Why? Panasonic? why must you continue to ignore the smallest things that go so far?"

NICE!!!!

Barry, Take your blood pressure pills.
Can't... didn't bring 'em with me. :) Seriously I'm in the airport at Charlotte typing all this stuff on my laptop. I have some pix and the basic article with me, and my plane's delayed so I'm getting close to being able to post it; if I can't get it before takeoff time I'll get it posted tonight.

Sorry but i couldn't find out the link for pdf file of cam?I want to check if this camera both PAL&NTSC?Is it?

It looks like panny hit the mark with a hi-res 16x9 LCD. Good to see. There is also no doubt that this is a pro camera. The ex3 is going to look even more consumer when this camera hits the streets.
