Hi everyone here is the thing.
I've been asked to work on a short film as a cameraman.
I knew they were looking into using a Letus extreme to shoot the film so I offered to use my HPX171 that I own as I know it by heart. They said that they have an EX1 available to shoot with from someone else in the crew.
I was wondering which one would be the best to use with the Lets extreme between the EX1 and my HPX171, knowing that I know my camera by heart and could almost shoot with my eyes closed.

The movie has no particular FX, it is a lifestream story of a kid in paris. Realistic lighting, a crane shot and some steadicam shots.

So here is the poll, and please tell me why you would choose such or such option.

It depends on a couple of things -- first of all, do they have the appropriate achromat optimization kit for the EX1? If not, the EX1 is gonna look lousy through that Extreme, because the EX1's lens has major issues with adapters. You need to have the appropriate kit. If you don't, forget the EX1.

The 171, I'm not sure how much of an optimized achromat it needs; I've used it on my Ultimate shooting through the HVX-optimized achromat and it's perfectly crisp edge to edge. But I don't know how it'll perform without that HVX achromat.

You should probably ask Hien over at Letus.

The odds of you delivering the best results on a camera you don't know, versus delivering the best on a camera you do -- well, that answer's obvious.

Barry,

Doesn't the Ultimate (and Elite) already have an optimized achromat lens anyway. Isn't it just the Extreme that requires the HVX200 optimization kit?

I use the standard Extreme with the HPX170 no optimized achromat and it looks fine.
