hpx170 discontinued @ b&h?

[Steveperalta]

Hello

i see that the HPX is discontinued at BH, does this mean there is a replacement coming up?

anyone know why? the 200a is still in stock?

thanks

seems like the model with the P2 card is gone, but not the solo model.

[Barry_Green]

On the Panasonic site it only lists the HPX170PJ, which it describes as "Handheld P2 Camcorder w/o P2 Card".

From that, I would guess that the recent price drop on the HPX170 is due (in large part) to them no longer giving away a free 16GB P2 card.

The HPX170 hasn't been discontinued at all, it's still a current model, but apparently the bundle with the P2 card has been discontinued.

thank you Barry

I just bought one from b&h...the non p2 version is quite a bit cheaper and they have discontinued the P2 ver.

[Farkus]

Good to hear. We were just looking into buying the HPX170 to add to our gear. Our HVX200's have been working great for 4 years!

How long can you record on a 16gb p2 card shooting 1080 30p? Thanks!

[mikkowilson]

A little over 16 minutes. The 30p is the same data-rate as 60i.
