HPX 500 Football Highlight - Overcranked

Hi, Evan, I think your footage is great, you have a good shoulder!:cheesy:
Anyway, 1/500 shutter is way too fast and generates a lot of exagerate strobing effect everywhere, unless this is what you were looking for...

In Oliver Stone's "Any Given Sunday" movie they probably used 1/500 sec or faster for slowmo, but they certainly overcranked until 200fps or more.

Have you already tried to shoot 60fps with 180.0d shutter angle?
It is the same as saying: 1/120 second of exposure time for each frame, this will give you better motion results by showing a proper amount of blurring, even in fast actions...

Yeah, the 1/500 is probably a little bit of overkill, but I'd rather have that than motion blur. The players and ball are moving so fast it can be difficult to tell what the perfect shutter is. I plan on running a bunch of tests this summer and coming up with exactly what it needs to be. And I'll definitely look into the 180.0d.

Funny story about the rain gear. I've got rain gear for the camera, it's in great shape, and is brand new, never been used. The reason it's never been used is because I didn't think to look at the weather before we left for Texas. When we got there, I realized I hadn't brought it, and was going to need to improvise. The first rule of TV is obviously be prepared, I take rain gear to every single game I shoot, but for some reason just didn't on this trip. I also forgot rain gear for myself, so I had to run into a local sporting goods store and buy myself a new jacket. Then at the game, I went back to my college student days and grabbed a trash bag and duct tape and started shooting.

It worked out pretty well, except for a couple shots that suddenly have a giant white trash bag blow through them!

Needless to say, I triple check my rain gear before I head out now!
