HPX250: HPX-250 Software Upgrade - Problem!

Hey guys- I've just wasted way too much time on this but I'm trying to get P2 Status Logger to recognize my 250 through the USB Device connection. Yes, it is set up properly in the camera as such and reads, "Connect" with my iMac .

I downloaded the "latest" versions of Logger and the Driver (2010?) but still, for some reason Status Logger won't recognize the connection with this camera. Hence, I cannot download the new Red Peaking function, etc.

This is driving me nuts. Any suggestions? Thanks much -- Jefferson
 
The firmware is downloaded to your iMac with the link at the Panasonic web site, and then copied to a SDHC card that you have formatted with the 250, and updated using the card and cam. Instructions can also be downloaded. It is downloaded directly to the cam.

Is that the method you are using, because your post doesn't seem like you are following that procedure.
 
I updated my camera without bothering with P2 Status Logger -- it is not needed to install the update. Just copy the files on a SD / SDHC card and initiate the update through the camera.
 
Uggh. I was under the assumption that in order to download the update successfully, one had to go through the Logger. No problem, by-passed it now, went directly from SD card into camera. Update was fine. Thanks guys. Jeez --
 
I did my upgrade without any problems. Not like the old days of Sony EX1 upgrade where my heart was in my hands and bricking seemed to be just over the horizon. I have no idea what P2 status logger was all about. Having seen a comment on one of these posts that it wasn't needed I just ignored it. Camera is now really good putting the red focus in black and white on the EVF has made my day.
 
The logger instructions do confuse things a bit. It takes a few reads of the directions to weed through that.
 
Panasonic really needs someone who is a native speaker of the English language (or at least someone who really is fluent in it) to proofread their instructions as well as all of their posts on the support site.
 
I am surprised you managed to copy the directory structure to your SD / SDHC card using a Mac. Because a Mac OS normally puts other subdirectories (hidden from the user) into the card - that you can see when you browse it using Windows. I usually copy the upgrade using a Windows system.
 
Having other directories and files on the card shouldn't be a problem -- as long as the camera finds the files it needs for the update it should work. The cards I have used to perform the update have always had other stuff (user settings files, scene files) on it besides the firmware directory and I never had a problem.
