How's Magic Lantern work for the 60D and 600D?

I'm debating which camera to get a friend suggested I check to see which one ML works best for as he has a 7D and is annoyed it's not functioning for that. I'm leaning towards the T3i mainly because the digital zoom feature seems really useful and it means I'll have a bit more cash to spend on an extra lens. Thoughts?

It isn't available for the 600D yet but development has just started - that doesn't guarantee it'll be working anytime soon (or ever) though.

The 60D is working but only a few people are using it so far. I think most of the functions are working but it has not yet been confirmed as fully stable and safe (enough).

on the 60d it works great so far! been using it for a week now! audio monitoring, hdr timelapse, zebra and magic zoom are really cool tools to have as a film maker!

Thanks MrChirster. Now all we need is a few more brave souls such as yourself to test the waters and prove to the rest of us scaredy-cats that we're not gonna trash out 60D's if we install ML.

I don't think there's been much case of any camera owner bricking their camera with ML as it needs to be reloaded every time you turn the camera on. Risk is hella low if it's a released version of ML you're dealing with. Of course, caution is always wise.

it's alpha! and there is one thing you really should be careful with:
in case something doesn't work, quickly remove the battery! only switching the camera off is not enough!

so far i didn't have to do this though!

I took my time reading through the 550d installation tutorial to make sure i understand everything. if you take your time and follow all the advice its really not that hard! the only scary moment for me was flashing my firmware to the ML 1.0.9 firmware... But this worked out without any problems!
From there on it's all soft modding: if I start the camera without sd card or with an unprepared sd card, no ML is loaded...

one question I have for alex though:
I'm in PAL land but I don't have an option for 1/50 shutter. ML only does 1/48... does it matter?
Oh and qscale -16 didn't work! it recorded with a much lower bitrate at qscale -16 and didnt stop recording after a second but kept on running. qscale -15 stopped immidiately and -14 I could record with (seeing the buffer indication constantly)!

Thanks for the info. How come I've seen stuff on this forum and on the ML website indicating that it works for the 600D?

I already use Magic Lantern for the 550D, so I know it's fairly safe. Still, you never know what bugs or differences there will be when dealing with a totally different camera.
